The mind is a marvelous
tool, one which allows us to discriminate and communicate, but it can
prevent us from fully experiencing the moment. |

In our western society,
learning is largely based on intellectual prowess and mental function.
While the mind is a marvelous tool, one which allows us to discriminate
and communicate; it can prevent us from fully experiencing the moment.
Our mind wants to be entertained; fixed on past and future; given things
to do. We are taught that meditation is about quieting or controlling
the mind. For many, this seems impossible and so we feel we have failed
or just simply can't meditate. And because we are so mentally focused,
we ignore our bodies, our feelings, our intuition. We have heard much
about these aspects of ourselves, but seldom do we learn how to access
them effectively and even less about how to integrate them. |
